Shayne Lamas lost her unborn baby on Feb. 9 while undergoing an emergency hysterectomy. The former ‘Bachelor’ star was in a medically induced coma for nearly two weeks before waking up. Now, the reality star is speaking out about the support she received from fans while she was out.
After being in a medically induced coma for almost two weeks, 28-year-old Shayne Lamas finally woke up. Now that she’s been informed about the emergency surgery that caused the loss of her unborn baby, the mother of one is speaking out to let her fans know that she is okay and grateful for their outpouring of well wishes.
Shayne Lamas Wakes Up — Out Of ICU
On Feb. 9 Shayne collapsed in the home she shares with her husband, Nik Richie. Shayne, who was 16-weeks-pregnant at the time, was rushed to the hospital where doctors determined she was bleeding internally around her uterus. During an emergency hysterectomy, Shayne lost her unborn baby in the operating room. After the risky emergency surgery, doctors put Shayne into a medically induced coma so that her body could recover properly. After suffering another scare on Feb. 14 when her heart unexpectedly let out. Thankfully, Shayne came out of her coma on Feb. 20 and was quick to release a statement letting everyone know that she was doing okay.“Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I’ve cried reading the expression of generosity and warmth from everyone,” Shayne shared in a statement given to Us Weekly. “I’m out of ICU at Mission Viejo Hospital. I cannot thank the medical staff here enough for not giving up on me.”
Paying Tribute To An Unborn Son
Shayne was not aware that she had lost her unborn son until she woke up from her medically induced coma on Feb. 20. In the statement released by Shayne, she wrote: “To everyone out there, please donate blood. You can save a life like mine. In loving memory of my son, Rex Jagger Lamas-Richie.”
