On Feb. 7, Rebecca Minkoff revealed the makeup look for her fashion show in NYC. We absolutely loved the look, achieved with Stila products and created by makeup artist Sarah Lucero. The dark, vampy lips are easy to wear in real life — get the exact look below.
Rebecca Minkoff Runway – Dark Lips Like Lorde
Stila makeup artist Sarah did a fabulous job creating the “mod maven” vision.
Sarah told HollywoodLife.com that she wanted “sexy, gorgeous, velvet skin; no imperfections showing.” So she started off with a flawless face, achieved by the Stay All Day Foundation. For cheeks she wanted “contoured cheeks and a pop of iridescent pink,” so she used the Baked Cheek Duo – Pink Glow Blush. For the natural eye, she used the In the Light Palette and the Major Major Lash Mascara. Sarah mentioned that the look was also “all about the bold brows.” To achieve the thick brows, she used the Stay All Day Brow Color.
The Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Amore was used to provide the dark, vampy lip that reminded us of Lorde.
Sarah used ”a really bold, matte lip. You can get that by layering it — almost like layering paint and it’s very matte, it doesn’t get cakey, which is really important backstage during February because if your lips are chapped, you have to be really cautious of texture. You also layer in a little bit of brown smudge pot for depth. I’ve been playing around with a heavier weight texture to match a heavier weight clothing like a jacket or a scarf.”
Two Tone French Manicure Nails By Essie
Nails were done by Michelle Saunders using all Essie Nail Products.
She EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com: “We’re doing a classic two-tone french manicure with two colors. One is called Bahama Mama which is a garnet and the tip is navy and it’s our color called Midnight Cami. What I think Rebecca really liked about the look is that those are the two colors that really pop in her collection. Another reason is because the garnet is feminine, but the navy is masculine and we see that throughout her collection.”
Polished Yet Messy Low Ponytails By TRESemmé
The hair for the show was styled by Jeanie Syfu for TRESemmé.
Jeanie exclusively tells HollwoodLife.com: “We’re starting with a really good blow dry with the Thermal Creations Mousse because that’s going to protect the hair and also give it a nice foundation, so when we back brush it out, it actually holds the shape. And then, we’re mattifying everything with the Fresh Start Renewing Dry Shampoo and that layers in the texture, so again, when we back brush it, it’ll be really fluffy. Then once all of that is set, it’s going to hold. It’s almost like perfecting it then deconstructing it after.”
Jeanie tells us her inspiration for the look: “Her collection is tom-boy sexy as she always does, but it has a very strong menswear influence, as you’re going to see with her fabrics, but it’s still very feminine. She likes that downtown romantic vibe, so we wanted the hair to be kinda understated and not too glamorous or too overdone and it really complements her collection. “
