Gracie Gold is definitely a contender to win the gold medal but as of now, she’s in third place. The Chicago native is trailing behind Russia’s Yulia Lipnitskaya, who stole the show with 141.51 points, putting her in first place.
Gracie Gold’s Olympic Performance Not As Good As Yulia Lipnitskaya
Gracie did an amazing job during the figure skating competition, and she scored an amazing 129.36 points. This nabbed the bronze medal for Americans and she even said in an interview: “I think I’m getting my stride.”
But there were still 12 points between her and Yulia and Gracie’s coach, Frank Carroll, just doesn’t understand why.
“I think she’s excellent. I don’t think she’s fabulous yet,” Frank said of Yulia. “There are things I like about her skating and things I don’t like.”
Yulia performed a routine to the music from Schindler’s List, while wearing a long-sleeve red dress. While Gracie skated to Sleeping Beauty, and wore a jeweled lavender dress.
Each girl is incredibly talented but it comes down to who performs best on the ice!
